The Highpoint House

The Highpoint House was a rebuild of a home that we had remodeled twice. The house burned in the Thomas Fire, and we were incredibly grateful that the clients called us to help them rebuild their home.

To begin the design process after someone so tragically lost all that they owned was a deeply moving experience, giving us a new look at how to communicate with our clients. “Gently” is the key word. In our discussions we learned they loved so many things about their home that they wanted to keep in their new layout.

To take full advantage of the ocean and island views, we reconfigured a couple of the spaces while keeping most of the original layout. This approach worked so well for the clients. Working with them again after a decade was both touching and poignant.
